What is #MondayNightDanceParty?

Last Updated: Feb 11, 2013 05:46PM PST
One of the most inspiring App.net developments has been the member-started, member-curated #MondayNightDanceParty that goes on every week at 8:30 p.m. Central Standard Time.  @jdscolam started #MondayNightDanceParty "because it was a crappy, burned out Monday night, and I wanted something to pep me up...It's been a crazy rocket ship of awesome ever since."

The concept is simple: it's a way for App.net members to collectively listen to and watch music videos, while simultaneously chatting with each other.

The Basics

There is an MNDP Lessons page that lays down the rules and procedures but here is our guide:

You can request a song by visiting the Play page and clicking the "Make Request" button to enter in the video information.  YouTube, Vimeo and Soundcloud URLs seem to be the preferred format.

You can also request / submit a song to be played by using Vidcast or by posting a YouTube link of the song to App.net with the hashtag #MondayNightDancePartyThey'll spot it in the stream and add it to the queue to be played.

The whole event is streamed on Vidcast as well as the Play page.  Each week between 40-45 songs get played, so choose your selections wisely.

A recent addition to
#MondayNightDanceParty has been to feature a musician in the App.net community or  #ADNoriginal, each week.  If you are a musician with music to share, contact @jdscolam and let him know you're interested in being the next #ADNoriginal!
